Menopause can be confusing, overwhelming and even annoying, but as a woman, you can be prepared for it. You need to understand that menopause is a transition, and not a condition or disease as some people think. However, this transition comes with some symptoms you may not easily ease without the help of an obstetrician. According to most obstetricians, you can use the following ways to manage or ease menopause symptoms.

1. Use the Right Moisturisers to Ease Vaginal Dryness

Vaginal dryness is often common to most women during menopause. Sadly, this symptom can even begin in peri-menopause. Although decreased oestrogen levels are the main cause of a dry vagina, some moisturisers or lotions can aid you to ease the discomfort it brings.

If you can't stand this symptom, an obstetrician can help you get lotions that will moisturise the dry cells. According to most reproductive health doctors, the lotions increase moisture absorption so that the vaginal tissues can be hydrated.

2. Do Away with Alcohol

For women who may not lose their hair during their menopause phase, they may experience hot flashes. Most women define hot flashes differently. However, a hot flash is more of a quick 'hot feeling' that may sometimes cause you to sweat or experience a red face. And since hot flashes are inevitable biological reactions during this transition, most obstetricians help women to identify the common triggers like alcohol and avoid them. Other common triggers include spicy foods, caffeine, heat and stress. If you limit these things, hot flashes might not be overwhelming during menopause.

3. Just Eat Healthy Foods

Hair loss is sometimes an inevitable symptom that most women experience during menopause. Most women experience it because the hormones that make their hair fuller or healthier during pregnancy decrease during menopause. However, most obstetricians assert that women can ease this symptom by eating healthy foods. For this reason, a woman should eat foods that will help minimise hair loss during this phase. Where possible, you should increase your vitamin B and C, iron, and protein intake to help regulate hormonal changes that might make menopause a painful transition.

Most menopause symptoms are usually hard to deal with, but an obstetrician can always help you ease them. So menopause shouldn't distress you as long as you can get an obstetrician to talk to or see. They may even suggest some other effective ways you can use to ease menopause symptoms besides the three ones discussed above.
